Our BC Wine Themed Wedding

On September 16th, I got married to the love of my life, Justin, in New Westminster, BC. Of course my first choice was a winery in the Okanagan (our favourite place in the world, as I am sure you know!), but with older grandparents unable to travel and a large family I wanted to accommodate, I decided I could still have a dream BC Wine themed wedding here at home. And, we sure did thanks to so many amazing vendors and BC wineries who helped to turn my dream into a reality.

Below is a photo collection of ways I was able to incorporate the BC Wine theme into our special day including which vendors I used. My favourite aspect of the entire wedding was our “cocktail hour” which featured a BC Wine tasting of cider, bubbles, white, rose and red wine from some of our favourite wineries from across the province. Guests grabbed a glass as they walked in and were able to taste different wines. Alongside our wine tasting was a massive long table with a selection of cheese and charcuterie. Guests couldn’t stop talking about how fun our cocktail hour was as it incorporated two of our favourite things (BC Wine and charcuterie!!) and allowed guests to graze, taste and be social together.

Here is a glimpse of our BC Wine themed wedding!

1) The Bridesmaid Dresses | Red Wine coloured dresses from Lulu Fashion Lounge

I asked each of my bridesmaids to choose a dress that they liked from Lulus and to keep it within the red wine/burgundy colour profile.  I didn’t mind if each girl chose a different style because I wanted everyone to be comfortable and wear something that flattered each of them.

2) The floral including the men’s corsages made with corks!|Stunning floral by Tailored Blooms (*We highly recommend Taylor, she was absolutely amazing to work with and brought my vision to life!)

I went with a variety of soft coloured floral with our wedding colour (burgundy/red wine). Our floral highlights included vases placed on wine crates during the ceremony and then moved to wine barrels during the reception. We had stunning bouquets and I loved the special touch of a wine cork within the men’s corsages. Taylor even build a beautiful floral staircase which was the first thing guests saw as they walked into our reception. Everything was beyond perfect!

So many incredible BC wineries were included within our “cocktail hour” which went longer than planned because everyone was having so much fun! I had an entire table of buckets filled with bottles of wine from our favourite BC wineries across the province.

DIY items- We placed corks in mason jars, wooden boxes, and a photo of us at the winery for each table.

Thank You Gifts- We made our own infused olive oils with rosemary from my parents garden.

Grapes- We purchased a box of wine grapes and carefully placed them throughout the space.

7) Our Table Wine | Kismet Estate Winery (Oliver, BC)

My dad LOVES Kismet and surprised us with red (Karma) and white (Pinot Grigio) wine from Kismet for our entire wedding! He even asked to get personalized labels put onto each bottle which they do for clients on a regular basis.
