Okanagan Crush Pad is located in Summerland, BC and is home to Haywire, Narrative and Free Form wines. Led by powerhouse Christine Colleta, they have been changing the BC Wine scene since its inception in 2011 and guess what, they’ve done it again. They’ve become the first BC winery to devote an entire brand and concept after their furry friends, with fun stories and all!
When Okanagan Crush Pad opened its doors, it was the first custom crush facility in Canada and has been known for use of different types of vessels in their winemaking process, including large format tanks from Italy and concrete eggs from California. With a few awesome brands under their belt, they decided to do something completely new (and fun!) and started a new brand featuring their two beloved Great Lyrenees, Bizou + Yukon.
Bizou + Yukon represents the only two dogs (that I know of!) that turned their vineyard roaming paws into cellar hands! The brand features three different wines- a white, rose and red- each with a colourful costum-illustraed label (there’s 12 different ones!) that relates back to their homeland, Summerlandia and the ranch where these two live, play and explore the magical world around them.
The approachable, easy-sipping and enjoyable wines in this collection include:
- Savvy Gris is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris made with wild yeast in concrete tanks.
- Pinkie Rose is a mix of several white and red wine varieties from the Okanagan. This is a perfect patio sipper for summer!
- Savvy Franc is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc made with wild yeast in concrete tanks. I enjoyed the Savvy Franc this past weekend with Tuscan style BBQ chicken and it was delicious- a great wine to compliment your BBQ feast!
These wines are available now as a mixed case only, direct from the winery for $275 per case (with taxes and a $20 shipping credit). Once the winery re-opens, these wines will be available for purchase by the bottle at Okanagan Crush Pad! A perfect bottle to open up with your dog-loving friends or if you appreciate a fun approach to BC Wine!!
Cheers to the team at Okanagan Crush Pad who are always thinking outside the box and developing creative, fun ways to celebrate what BC wine has to offer.
