Rare wines from Naramata at Coolshanagh

Using hand-picked grapes from a northern vineyard site off Naramata Bench, Coolshanagh which means a meeting place of friends, is making incredible single varietal Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These are special, rare and limited wines that contain pure expressions of terroir from this region and are a must try!

The 2016 Chardonnay is aged in two separate ways: (1) a percentage were whole cluster pressed into new oak puncheons to ferment (2) the remainder were fermented in a concrete egg. The wine went through minimal handling and had lees stirring and bottling without fining or filtration. This elegant wine has aromas of straw, green apple and lychee.

The 2017 Pinot Noir was fermented using 50% whole cluster in two 600L vinification barrels before basket pressing and neutral oak aging. Like the Chardonnay, this wine was bottled without fining or filtration. On the palate, fresh plum flavours and bright acidity.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the fundraising events for the BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) were cancelled. The BCHF relies heavily on funding from these events and Coolshanagh is trying to help raise funds by donating $10 per case sold to the cause.
