Kismet Owners and Family- Dapinder, Balwinder and Sandeep at the winery

A new winery on the Oliver Wine Route, Kismet Estate Wines, opened its doors in May, 2014, and has spent the last 2 years making award-winning, quality wines from grapes off their family estate- which are over 20 years old.

Originally from India- Dapinder, Sandeep, Suki and Balwinder- all bring something unique to Kismet, which is a Punjabi word meaning ‘Destiny’. They not only share a special bond but have a deep passion for not only their wines, but making their winery an unforgettable tasting experience for guests. At the tasting bar, enjoy complimentary tastings of Kismet award-winning wines, alongside fresh offers from their new kitchen, opening very soon (summer, 2016).

The cook, Franco Ignelzi, comes all the way from southern Italy. He has travelled all over north America focusing on Mediterranean  cuisine but just recently, grew a deep love for indian food. Now living in Osoyoos, Kismet Estate Winery was a perfect spot for him to hand create the menu, using local organic ingredients straight from the Kismet family garden farmed by their father. He promised a seasonal menu that will change on a regular basis depending on fresh ingredients available to him at the time.

Kistmet Wines, like the 2014 Kismet Safed which is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillion and Orange Muscat, are the perfect pairing for spicy indian cuisine such as curry, with its highly aromatic and fruit forward flavours. Next time you visit the Oliver region, be sure to make a stop at Kismet and enjoy their welcoming tasting room and definetly plan for lunch or an afternoon on the new patio!
