THE WOMAN BEHIND UNCORKBC

Meet KAYLA, a DEVOTED BC WINE ENTHUSIAST

Kayla's love affair with the BC Wine Industry blossomed during a wine tasting at Tinhorn Creek in Oliver when she was just 19, alongside her parents followed by a delicious picnic in the vineyard. She soon recognized the extraordinary nature of the experience, realizing it was something she could enjoy alongside her family, forming memories that would last a lifetime. Over the years, her passion flourished, eventually earning her a place among the top Wine Influencers in Canada.

KAYLA’S EXPERIENCE

Kayla's passion for the BC Wine Industry is unmistakable, having explored more than 200 tasting rooms across British Columbia.

For over a decade, she has documented her experiences venturing into tasting rooms, participating in wine events and seminars alongside industry leaders. In 2020, she transformed her enthusiasm into a business, introducing BC's inaugural wine passport—a feat celebrated as the Best of Kelowna 'Wine, Beer, and/or Food Event' for three consecutive years.

Kayla recieved the 2024 Wine Growers British Columbia Industry award for “Master Marketer”

Matt Tinney

Contributor, uncorkBC

BC-born and raised, Matt is a busy husband and dad with a background in molecular biology and multiple hobbies. Following his passion for wine, he started his own venture into wine writing and consulting. His aim is to develop connections with producers, distributors, and consumers, and help make wine more approachable and accessible through concise, informative, and relatable writing with a global perspective that's still personable. The whole story behind what's in the glass often gets lost, and he thinks it's part of the experience of wine to share and connect through these stories that deserve to be told.

He’s a perfect fit for uncorkBC as he is targeting not only wine enthusiasts and professionals but the lay-person who is wine-curious, not necessarily experienced but open to discovery. He feels he is endlessly curious and will always be a student of wine.

We’re excited to announce that Matt will be contributing regular stories for uncorkBC + will be representing us in the Lower Mainland at events!
