About WINERY:
Kutatás" (Koo-Tah-Tash) is a Hungarian word meaning research, exploration, or quest. Winemakers Mira Tusz and Daniel Dragert were inspired by this term, as it connects their venture to a shared Hungarian heritage, reflects their approach to winemaking, and symbolizes an ongoing journey. The winery is situated on Salt Spring Island, where they cultivate 8 acres of estate vines. The Salt Spring estate vineyard gently slopes to the south and is made up of mixed coarse soils over a deep, uniform sand deposit. The Patricia Bay vineyard is located on 100% clay soils, with a limestone water table above, naturally maintaining an elevated soil pH without the need for intervention.
