Time Family of Wines has become a beacon for Canadian wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. Known for their dedication to quality, tradition, sustainability, and innovation, the Time Family of Wines brand represents more than just wine; it’s a legacy of passion and a deep-rooted connection to the land.

Proudly 100% BC owned and operated, they focus on making the highest quality 100% BC VQA wines from the Okanagan Valley. They have a unique urban winery in downtown Penticton, Chronos Tasting Room, located in a historic movie theatre that is also home to one of the Okanagan’s best winery restaurants, OROLO Restaurant + Cocktail Bar.

Staying true to their roots

In January 2024, the Okanagan Valley experienced a winter climate event bringing a flow of arctic air as cold as -27 degrees. This devastated vineyards across the region, resulting in 10% or less of a normal crop. Time Family of Wines decided they did not want to source any outside fruit this year and are going to be working with what they have at their vineyards in BC: a total of 2.46 tons of grapes from one site in Osoyoos, featuring 4 barrels of Cabernet Franc, 1 barrel of Petit Verdot, and 1 barrel of Malbec. “The focus is on a less-is-more winemaking style and the beautiful, authentically BC wines that Lynzee creates will be the focus”, says Megan McKay Hall of Time Family of Wines. “While we are not sure what the future will bring- that depends on Mother Nature! - we are happy to be making wine in BC and encourage people to visit us in the Okanagan and see what our valley has to offer at any time of the year”.

 A focus on quality

The winery is focused on the highest level of attention, including sustainable viticulture practices and being good stewards to the land. “We work closely to make sure our vineyard sites are using water correctly, not disturbing the ecosystem, and that we are using cover crops to give back to the soil” says Winemaker Lynzee Schatz. “This in turn makes for happier and healthier vines without the use of synthetic fertilizers.” Time Family of Wines also does not dump their lees post fermentation. These are collected, filtered, and re-used which helps to keep extra organic material out of the septic system.

Time Family of Wines has a focus on terroir and aims to create wines that reflect the beauty of the region. Each vineyard site offers different characteristics in the wines focusing on allowing these flavours to be the lead. For example, the Pinot Gris comes from a vineyard site in Summerland that is extremely aromatic and fruity. In the cellar, low intervention takes place, letting this wine be what it wants to be, showcasing its unique characteristics. Something winemaker Lynzee is proud of.

Now, a visit to this winery is a must and should be added to the top of your list when visiting the Okanagan Valley! Located in the historic movie theatre transformed into a state-of-the-art winery, this unique winery invites guests to sample the portfolio of wines including Chronos, Evolve and McWatters. The stylish tasting room is one of the only ones in Penticton open during the fall and winter season!
